False Teeth but Real Bite
Although
a lot of things in your body grow and regrow most of the time, you
can only have so much teeth in your mouth. Humans are all born with
only two sets of teeth: deciduous teeth (“milk teeth”) and
permanent teeth. Once both sets are lost, your body cannot regrow
teeth to fill in the spaces left behind by missing pieces. These gaps
can look unsightly and hideous, and even complicate eating and dental
care matters.
Those
who are missing a tooth or two from their mouths can opt to have the
spaces filled in with a variety of false teeth appliances. These
artificial
teeth
look just like the real thing and perform much like natural teeth
when used in talking and eating, on top of covering the bare spots.
False teeth comes in different forms, such as dentures, bridges, and
even dental implants.
Whenever
patients opt for false teeth, they first need to consider how they
will use their new teeth in order to select the right appliance to
use. Those fond of eating might want to get dental implants due to
their secure installation, for instance. Individuals with more than
one missing tooth will find bridges the more desirable option.
Patients who want to completely replace all their teeth should settle
for dentures.
