Denture Procedures and Types
Dentures
or, as many people call it, false teeth are cosmetic tools used to
partially or fully replace the teeth of a patient. Despite the
emergence of other dental methods for the past several years, many
cosmetic dentists still encourage this form of corrective dentistry
for patients who have lost their teeth. On the part of the patients,
understanding the procedure and the different types of dentures can
be beneficial when consulting a dentist.
Outfitting
a Denture
Cosmetic
dentists must first measure the bone structure of the patient's face
and mouth to determine the ideal alignment for the denture. A
temporary mold is then placed on the mouth as a basis for the denture
that will be crafted based on the mold. As much as possible, the
denture should look like the original teeth of the patient, with each
tooth looking as real as it can be.
Denture
Types
Dentures
are commonly made out of porcelain, with acrylic elements that will
make the false teeth look as real as possible. While dentures are
usually made in full sets, partial dentures or individual false teeth
are also options for the treatment. Depending on the patient's
missing teeth and dentist's recommendations, one can opt either for
full dentures or partial ones in both upper and lower areas of the
mouth.
