What are Denture Implants and How Do they Work?

When most of your teeth, in one way or another, have fallen off, or if you experience overt signs of dental problems like swollen or tender gums, shifting teeth, or a constant toothache, then you might be in need of dentures pretty soon. However, many people find it difficult to maintain teeth that have to be removed when cleaning, much less ones that could come off when they bite at something hard. This is where permanent dentures come in.

What are they?

Essentially, permanent dentures, also called denture implants, are false or replacement teeth that, unlike conventional dentures, are secured into place using a titanium alloy fixtures. This makes cleaning and maintenance easier, as well as allows for a better bite.

Structure

Denture implants are attached to your jaw using a titanium or ceramic bridge, installed so that it becomes permanently attached and serves the function of roots. The dentures themselves aren’t any different from the conventional ones.

Advantages

One of the main benefits of denture implants comes from the fact that you don’t have to remove your teeth to soak it in cleaner – you just have to take care of it pretty much the way you should your natural teeth. It can also be much less costly than when having dental implants set up for each missing tooth.
